She holds a degree in Psychology from Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar (UTB) in Colombia, a Master's degree in Psychology from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia, and a PhD in Psychology from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) in Spain.

During her training she visited several universities in Europe and the USA. For instance, she completed a research stay at the Department of Psychology in the University of Miami, where she joined the design team of the Early Science Initiative Program. She also participated in the monitoring team of the Educare Miami-Dade School, a member of the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education, by supporting teachers in understanding early science and transferring that knowledge to effective classroom practices.

She has been teaching at UTB since 2011 and served as a researcher trainee at UAM from 2016-2020. She has taught at different educational levels, including courses, modules and workshops on educational psychology, statistics and research designs.

She has published papers and participated in both national and international events on topics such as gender, the quality of teacher-student relationships based on closeness, conflict and dependency, teachers' pedagogical beliefs and on boys and girls' academic performance. At present, her research focuses on gender stereotypes about children's abilities of teachers, parents and students, as well as their effects on cognitive and affective development.
